Amid rich farmland and precious ecological sites, Delta South ("South Delta") includes the two communities of Ladner and Tsawwassen. Both are well-represented on the current Riding Association, which was launched in 2017.
A shamefully short time frame for the 2020 snap election (during CoVid) proved how valuable it can be to have a team of volunteers ready to go as soon as an election is called, with funds in our account to cover early campaign expenses. Candidate Peter van der Velden's profile in the community garnered rapid support from many residents who otherwise might not have voted Green. His name recognition, a ready-to-go campaign core team, and stellar media coverage for new party leader Sonia Furstenau increased our local share of the vote by 60% over the 2017 election.
