The idea is the brainchild of Vigilance CEO, Dave Andrew: “We have over £1m of high quality used machines in stock at our Bristol facility. These machines can provide a real lifeline - quite literally - to those companies who either need to ramp up their production and distribution of NHS ventilators and associated equipment, or who have transformed their existing production operations to manufacture much needed medical equipment.”
The UK government, only a few days ago (16 March 2020), put out a nationwide appeal asking any businesses to make contact if they could help in the manufacture and supply of ventilators and/or ventilator components. To answer the call effectively these companies may well need access to additional machining capacity.
Explains Andrew: “Some companies will almost certainly have the knowledge and expertise to help but may not have the requisite in-house production capabilities immediately to hand. We can help them bridge this gap.
“We will lend our machine tools and/or equipment to those companies that have already answered the call and to those who are considering becoming involved but are worried about their existing capacity and capabilities.
“All we ask is that the machines that are loaned are looked after and are maintained and, after we have come through the other side of the pandemic, they are returned back to us.
“Clearly there are some terms and conditions that apply - but these have been kept to a minimum.”
