Last year, As part of an official UK commemorative coin range struck by The Royal Mint to celebrate His Majesty’s 75th birthday, The Royal Mint produced its first UK coin made from a blend of silver recovered from medical and industrial X-ray films. We are proud to announce that the coin has been shortlisted as a finalist in The Sustainability Brand Licensed Product or Range Award category in The Brand & Lifestyle Licensing Awards. We are committed to being a leader in sustainable precious metals, and using X-ray silver is one of several pioneering approaches to reduce our reliance on mined materials. Congratulations to everyone who worked on this project.

International Women’s Day isn't just a global celebration of women's achievements; it's a powerful reminder of the importance of equality and solidarity. Earlier this week our women's network, "Una", hosted a lunchtime drop-in session which encouraged all colleagues to share experiences and explore initiatives to enhance our organisation and the local community throughout 2024. The issue of e-waste is a growing global problem, with only 20% of the 50 million tonnes of waste produced each year being recycled. We are committed to prioritising and championing a domestic solution in the UK to help increase this percentage, and today, our CEO Anne Jessopp is a guest speaker at the Economist Impact Sustainability Week where she will discuss The Royal Mint's sustainability initiatives and the importance of establishing partnerships to create new opportunities.
